My brother always uses public conections, like public libraries or cultural centers, to do his online works. He has an important job and manage sensible information about clients and business. I think this is not a good idea to use public wi-fi connections to do so… What do you think and why...
- Many public Wi-Fi access points are unencrypted networks that transmit data in plain text, allowing cybercriminals to access the information you transmit, including passwords, banking data, emails, and other sensitive information.
- Man-in-the-Middle (MitM) attacks: In this type of attack, a third party intercepts the communication between two parties and pretends to be both without either side knowing. This allows the attacker to steal confidential information or even alter the transmitted data.
- On a public Wi-Fi network, there's a risk of someone impersonating a legitimate network to deceive users and steal their information.
I think that is not a good idea because it has a lot of problems.
Some of the problems with public Wi-Fi connections are:
1. You can use a VPN, which encrypts your internet connection and protects your information.
2. Avoid accessing sensitive information while on public Wi-Fi.
3. Only connect to websites that use HTTPS.
4. Disable file sharing and Bluetooth to reduce the chances of other devices connecting to yours without permission.
5. You can use an antivirus software.
